Best Of 2018
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by to read up about my highlights of 2018! I've tried to keep it to one a month so I don't bore you with every little thing but there was so much wonderfulness I couldn't help myself some months! Enjoy x
January saw me rebrand from The Vintage Party Co to Gemma Jane Design, with a brand spanking new website, logo and a business with calligraphy at the heart.
A random acts of kindness day giveaway, and a very happy bride to be!
My first wedding fair as Gemma Jane Design at The Milsom Wedding Show at Kesgrave Hall. I went big and exhibited my new photobooth backdrop, hand painted with romantic calligraphy phrases. I met lots of lovely brides and grooms and taught my very first calligraphy workshop which was EPIC. I was so nervous but it was so fun and so rewarding teaching some new skills to some eager DIY brides. More of that this year for sure!
I also had my very first brand photo shoot, with the lovely Hiral from HJ Branding Stories. It was such a great experience and I am still in love with the photos she captured. She effortlessly portrayed the art of what I do in some beautiful photos, I was so grateful and the photos are still so useful in telling my story.
April was the month of the first styled shoot I've ever organised myself. I've been a part of a fair few now but this one was extra special as I got to concept the whole thing and it could not have come out more perfectly. Every one of the suppliers I worked with was so talented and brought such magic to the shoot. I never wrote a blog about it so I'll do that soon but in the meantime, here's a little snapshot (if you follow me on Insta you'll have seen a load of the photos over there).
May saw my top Instagram post of the year. A mirrored table plan at a gorgeous wedding at Hengrave Hall on what was one of the hottest days of the year at that point. Here it is!
Another blog I was supposed to write last year, that I promise will come this year was the blog about Sian and Ali's wedding day. Sian was such a dream to work with and her wedding was extra special to me. We started talking just as I was going through my rebrand and as a bride, she was totally on the same page as me with everything I was aiming for with my new brand. She didn't want fuss, she wanted elegant, sophisticated designs that oozed class and personality. As a Disney fan she wanted to capture that love in her day but she didn't want anything too themed or over the top. I'll show you more in another blog but here is a snapshot.
Louise and Craig, who wed on one of the hottest days of the year with some of my favourite designs of the year, incorporating foliage to create elegant, understated signs.
We got published! The shoot I worked so hard on in May made it onto the gorgeous Whimsical Wonderland Weddings!
The All Saints Wedding Showcase! A whole heap of wonderful suppliers and an even bigger heap of wonderful brides and grooms. I showed off my new copper stand and booked lots of 2019 weddings!
Calligraphy vows - one of my 2017 brides got in touch and asked me to write out their vows for their paper anniversary. I would love to do some more of these this year, so call out to 2018 brides - holla for your anniversary presents!
Rest and recovery! Wedding season had calmed down and it was time to catch up on admin, enquiries and accounts!
Christmas! I had a slow and steady December, recouporating (is that not a word?! I'm getting a red squiggle) from a busy year and getting ready to hit it hard again in January!
Thank you to every one of you that booked with me last year, every one of you who commented on any of my posts or said hello at a wedding fair. You make it all worth it! And thank you to all those who have booked for this year - let's do this!
